Why Birds?
Birds play an important role in maintaining the ecological balance. From seed dispersal and pollination, to pest control, birds have actively contributed to the sustenance of Life on Earth. There are about 10000 living species of birds today in various shapes, sizes and colours and it is this diversity that has made birding one of the most popular hobbies in the world!
An observation of the diverse behavioral patterns of the different species on Earth helps us find many similarities with humans and it is no doubt that we share an ancestral link with all species that evolution has given rise to. Humans share a common ancestor with birds too as depicted in this detailed "Tree of Life" from evogeneao. Birds are our 175 millionth cousins!
