- Water Spots Trail
- Campus Contour Trail
- Enchanted Forest Trail
Before you set off, here is a list of things you need to have:
- Camera or binoculars - The better to see you with my dear! (Which camera?)
- Clothing - Wear light-weight, warm, water-proof clothing depending on the weather. Avoid bright clothing or perfumes/deodorants that will alarm the birds.
- Shoes - Wear a good sturdy pair of walking shoes. Avoid slippers as some of the trails have prickly plants with thorns that will pierce the flimsy soles.
- Field Guide - Carry a good book to help you identify birds. (Which book?)
- Bird Checklist - Compile a simple list of birds you spot and record how often you see it. Add new birds to the list when you spot them. Here is my bird checklist! (PDF)
- Patience! - All good things come to those who wait...
And a few basic rules of birding ethics to be followed:
- Stay on roads, trails and paths to minimize habitat disturbance.
- Stay back from concentrations of nesting or resting waterbirds.
- Keep movements slow and steady, rather than fast or sporadic.
- Stay quiet and respect the bird's environment.
- Do not litter. Help preserve the bird's habitat.
